About Us
Shanceler Terry (C.E.O.) began working in the after school arena in 1999 when most after school programs were first brought to the table for many schools across America. Over the past 9 years, Mrs. Terry has developed and coordinated several after school programs throughout the Houston area. She has served in the role of teacher, lead teacher for the after school program, full time coordinator and project coordinator – overseeing several sites. Having served in these roles, she has taken the knowledge she has learned as a result from over the years and applied it to developing programs that students, teachers and parents can actively enjoy. “Students sit at a desk all day – after school is a time to kick off your shoes – grab a comfy spot and play while learning. Teachers can be themselves and show another side of their personality by engaging in relationship building activities and lessons that go beyond the bell to bell instruction during the day,” says Terry. As s graduate from The University of Tulsa, Shanceler Terry has a bachelors in Secondary education as well as a bachelors in English. An experienced, certified grant writer, Mrs. Terry brings to TXBOL a broader perspective and skill set to empower communities and youth programs through grant writing, training and non-profit establishment.
